Cleaning tiles – the weekly care routine that cleans bathroom tiles properly
In order to prevent floor tiles in particular from getting heavily soiled when cleaning the bathroom, weekly bathroom care with the right cleaning agents can be helpful.
To do this, it is best to first clear all objects aside in order to get free access to the floor. You should then first remove loose dirt from your tiles by vacuuming them thoroughly. This also prevents hair, dust, and other dirt from sticking to the cloth and forming ugly lumps when you later wipe with a damp cloth.
In the next step, carefully wipe the floor with warm water, which you can add to with a little all-purpose cleaner or floor cleaner. We can remove stubborn dirt in no time with warm water and a small brush.
Which detergent is best for bathroom cleaning?
As already described in the first paragraph, a commercially available all-purpose cleaner can be used for regular cleaning.
Stubborn limescale stains can also be easily cleaned with natural vinegar. To do this, simply add a few splashes of vinegar to warm water and clean your floor and wall tiles as usual when cleaning the bathroom.
Have your bathroom tiles become dull and therefore look rather ugly? Simple ammonia water also referred to in the trade as an ammonia solution, can provide a quick remedy here. This helps your tiles made of materials such as. Ceramic or stoneware to shine again. However, before cleaning, please make sure you have the right tile material.
Important NOTE! Be careful with natural stone tiles! This type of bathroom tile can be very sensitive to acid. For this reason, vinegar and ammonia water are not recommended here! For gentle care, please use soft soap to clean your tiles.
Clean joints – clean bathroom tiles with simple household products!
It is often not the actual tiles that are the problem when cleaning the bathroom, but gray or dirty joints. Because over time, dirt and limescale residues from the water collect here.
We can ideally clean the joints with a simple household trick. Simply use baking powder that you apply to a damp cloth or sponge and dab the joints with it. A small brush, such as a toothbrush, is also ideal for spreading the baking soda and water mixture. Let the baking soda soak in a bit and then remove the rest of the mixture with warm water.
Cleaning tiles made easy? Baking powder, and alcohol can also lighten the joints again. Especially when mold has formed, which often turns the tile joints unattractively black. Apply the pure alcohol to the affected areas and let it sit for a few minutes. Then clean the area thoroughly with a little warm water.
Are there any tips for cleaning the bathroom against really stubborn dirt?
The tile cleaning in your bathroom does not really want to succeed because the joints have become discolored. Intensive professional cleaning is required here. We made this possible, for example, with special steam cleaners that tackle even very heavy soiling down to the pores.
So-called joint brushes, which have been specially developed with nylon bristles for cleaning joints, are also available in specialist shops and hardware stores. These are easy to use for bathroom maintenance, and thanks to their angular shape, they can also get into corners and often provide surprising results.
Here, yellowish discolored tile joints turn white again and look like new. Incidentally, you can use a universal grout brush to remove discoloration from both cement and silicone grouting. Sophisticated models also give you the option of working on wall tiles by hand, but also standing up to clean floor tiles with a supplied, screw-on stick (similar to sweeping).
Can something specifically prevent contamination in bathroom care?
The good news is yes, especially with mold stains!
Don’t just fight the consequences of dirt, but also focus on preventive measures when caring for your bathroom tiles. A few simple tricks can help to protect sensitive tiles and their joints from mold, for example.
Moisture, heat, and various kinds of soap residues are the ideal breeding ground for mold to grow in your bathroom. Make sure that the room temperature in the bathroom is constant, which should be around 24 °C. Because if the bathroom is too warm or too cold, thermal bridges quickly form and water vapor and moisture constantly settle on joints and tiles.
Cleaning tiles with a shower squeegee: because of the accumulation of moisture, you should not only dry the shower walls but also all wet tiles with a shower squeegee or a suitable cloth immediately after showering or bathing. This will prevent moisture from collecting in the joints and causing mold to form.
Practical tip: leave the shower wall open a little after showering. This allows the air to circulate optimally and you do not provide the mold with a breeding ground.
Bathroom cleaning–don’t forget to ventilate: Please ensure that you ventilate properly. This applies both to the time directly after showering and regular ventilation throughout the day. We recommend airing the room several times a day to get the moisture out of the bathroom.
